Thursday Temptation: Naturally Flavored Water
Everyone knows, and have heard, that the best thing to drink and refuel your body is good old H2O. Water keeps us hydrated and for those of us trying to lose weight, helps us stay full to deter us from snacking. But if you're like me, who doesn't really like water and just drinks it because we "have to", you want another way to make water actually taste good.
Many of us have heard of the hyped up "water enhancers", such as Mio. These water enhancers claim to give water a flavor enhancement with just a few drops, making it easier for people to drink more water. However, although they advertise "natural flavors", their ingredients say otherwise. Mio, for instance, uses sucralose, which is an artificial sweetener, and certain preservatives and artificial colorings. An article on "Everyday Health" gives us a look at one of Mio drink's ingredient list:
Water, Citric Acid, Salt, Propylene Glycol, Potassium Phosphate, Malic Acid, Contains Less than 2% of Niacinamide, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Natural Flavor, Sucralose and Acesulfame Potassium (Sweeteners), Potassium Citrate, Polysorbate 60, Red 40, Blue 1, Potassium Sorbate (Preservative)
So why add all that unnatural flavorings and color to your water, when you can flavor it with REAL natural flavor. There are many ways you can naturally flavor your water such as with lemons, cucumbers, fresh/frozen fruit. Any of these additions will help your water taste better and not to mention the pretty effect the fruit gives to your glass of water.
I hope you enjoyed this great tip on how to NATURALLY enhance your water. Let go of all the preservatives and sugar additives of those so-called "water enhancers" in a bottle because the REAL natural flavoring is already in your refrigerator.
